Orchestral White Stripes

Good news for White Stripes fans and/or fans of orchestra music, Jack White's music has been given the classical treatment, and the project is called ALUMINUM.

"ALUMINIUM is an album of avant garde orchestral recordings of music written by Jack White of The White Stripes. It was recorded between August 2005 and February 2006 at Intimate Studios in Wapping (London), using a specially assembled orchestra comprising many of the UKs finest young classical musicians.

The album will be available exclusively through the Aluminium website as a numbered limited edition of 3,333 CDs and 999 LPs. The download format will not be limited, and will come with an electronic booklet. The album will be available for pre-order on November 6th, 2006."

All pressings will come with accompanying artwork from Rob Jones, a long time collaborator with the White Stripes, and these pieces are part of a wider Rob Jones exhibition which is currently showing at the Richard Goodall Gallery in Manchester. Selections from this album have also been included into a performance by choreographer Wayne McGregor that will take place at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden this November.
