Random Remixes

Check out a few different remixes that have caught my ear.

  • First, a quite funky remix for the funkiest MC on the west coast, off of the new album Over Time by the underground hip hop collective that Del founded in the early 90's called Hieroglyphics.

  • An atavistic beat makes for a head-bobbing remix of Public Enemy's "Bring That Beat Back," originally from their 2005 album New Whirl Odor.

  • Electronics-heavy remix of Lil' Flip's "Game Over" done by Portland's own keytar wielding elecro-house pop craftmaster Copy, who I'll be discussing again very soon. For good measure I threw in his remix of Family Affair by Mary J. Blige.

  • Not sure how I've overlooked this Hot Chip remix of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" for this long, but here we have it nonetheless. Tickets are still available for their April 25th gig in Austin at Antone's, get them for $15 at the link.
  • The penultimate, a hilarious (and fun!) remix of Snoop's 2004 hit "Drop It Like It's Hot," done disco-chipmunk style by Copyfokking Ungdomsnizzle, whoever that is. Thanks to Palms Out Sounds.

  • To close it out (even though it doesn't fit the theme of these other tracks whatsoever,) an ambient take on Midlake's "Roscoe," produced by London-based electro DJs Erol Alkan and Richard Norris under the name Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve.
