Formed almost 19 years ago, neo-psychedelic rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre are making a comeback of sorts. They released a new album (My Bloody Underground) last year, they just released a new EP (Smoking Acid), and they are playing with a rejuvenated lineup that included founding member Matt Hollywood.
Led by the unpredictable front man Anton Newcombe, the San Francisco-based group helped usher in the revival of psychedelic rock in the 1990s, and (along with the Dandy Warhols) were the subject of the award-winning 2004 documentary DIG!. They will be cranking out the reverb at Emo's tonight en route to Coachella, and tickets are $15 at the door. Here's one from the new EP:
