New from Monahans

Watch the full episode. See more ACL presents Satellite Sets.

The more I hear and see from Monahans, the more impressed I become. I got turned on to their first album, Low Pining, back in 2007, falling hard for the track "Undiscovered." The follow-up album Dim the Aurora arrived via Misra Records in 2009, showing off a fuller sound and a whole new level of ambition.

It appears that Monahans have added ex-Spoon bassist Joshua Zarbo to the lineup, which certainly bodes well for the band moving forward. They recently performed on the fabled KLRU Austin City Limits stage for the spinoff series ACL Presents Satellite Sets. The video above comes from that set, and the rest can be found here.

Monahans are giving away free downloads of their latest recordings over at their official site, and the band will play Austin again on 11/19 as part of the Movember Beatles Benefit at The Mohawk.

Yeah Joshua Zarbo is definitely an asset joining the Monahans..He adds a new dimension that I think they didn't really have before, you know?

Thanks for heads up on the downloads! :)
