Megafauna formed after established Brooklyn guitar heroine Dani Neff packed her bags for Austin, TX. She then hooked up with drummer Cameron Page and bassist Will Krause to fill out this rock and roll power trio. Their mission is to bring the juncture of pop, progressive, and experimental fringes of rock to the fore-front of the Austin music scene.
Dani's guitar playing suggests that she grew up listening to the likes of Jimmy Page, Ted Nugent and Angus Young. She's definitely got some vintage guitar shreds going on. There's also a touch of grunge in the Megafauna sound, and a noticable Deerhoof influence.
The trio released their debut album 'Larger Than Human' in 2010. Their second full-length album, 'Surreal Estate', was recorded in Austin by Erik Wofford (Black Angels, Explosions In The Sky, White Denim) and just released this summer. Download the free 3-song EP at megafaunamusic.bandcamp.com.
